Reverend John Chandler Retires

A beautiful service of farewell and thanksgiving for the Reverend John Chandler and his wife June was held at Little Horkesley Church on Sunday 20th October. John was Associate Vicar here at St. Michael's as well as the incumbent for the Benefice of Wormingford, Mount Bures and Little Horkesley.

John and June were delighted that Bishop Roger was there to lead the service, and that so many people came along to send them on their way. Thank you to everyone who made the occasion so special for them.

Our heartfelt thanks go to John and June for their unfailing ministry, and we look forward to seeing them around and about continuing to serve our Lord in other ways. We hold them in our prayers as they move forward into a new chapter of their life together.

AA Harvested Field Harvest Thank You

On Sunday 6th October, we celebrated and gave thanks for the glory of God's creation at our Harvest Festival, and held in our prayers all who are in need. Click here for photographs of some of our harvest displays, which focused on climate change and our responsibility for protecting the beautiful and bountiful earth God created.

We also launched this year's shoebox appeal for Operation Christmas Child at the service so please click here for information about how you can fill a shoebox for a child in need.

Thank you to everyone involved with the day: whether you helped to decorate the church, donated items for our harvest collection, prepared the 'Ploughmans and Puds' lunch, or simply came along to participate in it all - we appreciated it!

A bountiful selection of toiletries and food items were presented to Beacon House and the Colchester Foodbank.
