If you're new to St. Michael's, or if this is the first time you've visited the website, we're pleased you've found us! If you’ve been here before, we’re delighted you came back. A heartfelt welcome to you all.
OUT OF DARKNESS COMES LIGHT: HE IS OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, OUR HOPE AND GUIDING LIGHT
St. Michael’s Church is open!
These have been, and continue to be, strange and challenging times, but the UK Government has now given the go-ahead for churches to open for public worship, although in a significantly restricted way. With this in mind:
Evening Prayer will be held in the church at 4pm on the following Sundays and Wednesdays in July: 5th, 8th, 12th, and 15th.
For the time being, we continue to hold Sunday morning worship at 10.15am on Zoom, and if you don't have Zoom or a computer you can now use the telephone to join us (please contact us for information). We hope to return to a Sunday morning service in the church later in July; so please check back for updates.
Special measures will be in place for all services held in the church, to help protect the health and safety of all. We ask that you please follow directions given to you by clergy and the designated church members as well as information displayed on the signs.
We look forward to welcoming you!
The Church of England supports the Government's approach of continuing to suppress the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) and recognises that at this time public worship cannot return in the interests of public health and safety. Whilst St. Michael's Church can now be open for personal prayer (see above for details), Myland Parish Hall and The Community Room cannot yet reopen. All services, groups, coffee mornings and other events remain suspended.
We continue to pray and care, and our staff can be contacted, as follows:
Rev'd Ray Gibbs: 01206 843926
Rev'd John Chandler: 01206 366930
Sarah King, Church Office Administrator: 07518 437488
Lesley Hindle, Churchwarden: 07708 954990
Jill Bollen, Churchwarden: 01206 851434
In addition to our opening hours for private prayer, Church is still happening in different ways: on WhatsApp, Zoom and the telephone, and of course privately in many people's homes.
We also have a weekly newsletter, which can be found by clicking here or by clicking on 'News' at the top of the page. If you would like to receive one of these newsletters directly, please get in touch with Sarah King on the telephone number above.

We recognise that these are uncertain and challenging times for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We pray for those sick with the virus; for the doctors, nurses, health workers and other care givers, and all who support them in their work; and for those who are seeking ways to combat the spread of the virus. We pray too for those impacted in other ways: bereaved; worried about loved ones; frightened and alone at home; or anxious about their jobs and businesses; and for the most vulnerable in our communities and those who care for them.
We are closely following instructions and guidance given to churches by the Church of England and by the UK Government. For more information, please visit the following websites:
