1st Myland St Michael's Scout Group

The Scouting movement is one of Myland's oldest organisations, and is still going strong. We meet weekly in Myland Parish Halls, providing traditional development opportunities for young people aged between 6 and 14. Yes, behind the fun of Scouting, there is an educational programme which was completely redesigned in 2015. The programme was revised following consultation within the movement; the changes being called the Programme Refresh. The previous Programme Zones have been replaced by three themes, being "outdoor and adventure", "world" and "skills". Section Leaders are trained to deliver this programme. The aim of the Scouting Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The method of achieving the aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership. Scouting is open to all young people aged 6 to 25 of every faith and background. There are five Sections:

Beaver Scouts 6 - 8 year olds

Cub Scouts 8 –10 ½ year olds

Scouts 10 ½ - 14 year olds

Explorer Scouts 14 -18 year olds

Network 18 - 25 year olds

We are always looking for adults to become leaders. If you think you might be interested in training and wearing the uniform and helping young people (it's more fun and rewarding than you may think) then please contact us.

We are sorry but at present all sections are full and waiting lists are closed; we have a register of interest for the Beaver Scouts. To register your child's interest please e-mail: for an application form. It must be stressed that this will not guarantee a place for your child within the group at any time.

For more information please contact Bill Miller, Group Scout Leader on 01206 844313; or e-mail
