Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Love in a shoebox banner

Every year, St. Michael's participates in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal to send gifts to children who are in need.

In 2021, all the filled boxes were collected in at our Shoebox Service held on Sunday 21st November, 10.15am.  Thank you to all who gave a shoebox of gifts and to those who came along to the special service, joining with us to give thanks to God and to remember those children for whom they were given.

The shoeboxes are filled not only by our church members but also by members of the many organisations which meet in the church, Myland Parish Halls and around Myland. Together we help to fill children's lives with joy as the shoeboxes contain gifts for children who live in situations where they have very little of anything, and who would otherwise receive no presents at Christmas.

It's a good idea to start thinking about your shoebox early so that you can purchase items for it throughout the year.  May we suggest that you read the official guidance from the Samaritan's Purse website: click here.  Please note that chocolate, sweets and toothpaste can no longer be included in the box.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and leaflets are available from the Church Office. You can also use your own shoebox and wrap it in Christmas wrapping paper (please wrap the box and lid separately). It's a good idea to use an elastic band to help keep the lid in place. Please do not tape your box.

If you have any questions about the Appeal, do contact us or pop in to any of our services.

Thank you for making up a shoebox!
