Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Love in a shoebox banner

Every year, St. Michael's participates in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal.

Our own 'official' launch for the 2018 appeal was at our Harvest Thanksgiving service on Sunday 14th October.

All the filled boxes will be collected in at a special:
Thank You Service for all the family
Sunday 18th November, 10.15am

This may seem a little earlier than previously but it is necesary to be sure our shoeboxes arrive at their destination in good time. So please do come along to this special service to present your shoebox, joining with us as we give thanks to God and remember those children for whom they were given.

We received over 140 shoeboxes for the 2017 appeal, including those from the Mile End Methodist Church. It would be wonderful if we could achieve even more!

The shoeboxes are filled not only by our Church members but also by members of the many organisations which meet in the church, Myland Parish Halls and around Myland. Together we help to fill children's lives with joy as the shoeboxes contain gifts for children who live in situations where they have very little of anything, and who would otherwise receive no presents at Christmas.

It's a good idea to start thinking about your shoebox early so that you can purchase items for it throughout the year. May we suggest that you read the official guidance from the Samaritan's Purse website: click here.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and leaflets are available from the Church Office. You can also use your own shoebox and wrap it in Christmas wrapping paper (please wrap the box and lid separately). It's a good idea to use an elastic band to help keep the lid in place. Please do not tape your box.

If you have any questions about the Appeal, do contact us or pop in to any of our services.

Thank you for making up a shoebox!
